Ahsan Iqbal deletes his own Twitter poll after seeing unexpected results

The situation is too hot right now among all the parties in Pakistani politics and Twitter is the hottest frying pan for the political parties. Though the opposition has a so-called alliance dubbed as PDM (or The Pakistan Democratic Movement) against the government, it has many differences among themselves which can be easily seen when they stand against each other especially in bye-elections. Well, right now, we aren’t talking about their personal grudge but one’s heavily built self-confidence that fell down just within hours in a Twitter poll.

Ahsan Iqbal is one of the top leadership of the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (or PMLN – one of the parties in opposition) who is too active on Twitter to defend his party’s narrative on social media. His criticism is well taken by the party’s followers and equally responded to by the government and its fans. However, he didn’t seem to have a good day with his sixth sense to oversee what’s coming against his recent Twitter poll.

In a recent tweet on November 27th, 2021, Ahsan Iqbal started a poll to see the public response for the current government performance against his party’s 2018 government. Unfortunately, he had to first disable the comments and then delete the tweet, dumping over 26,000 votes for an unwilling situation for him. But what actually has happened? That’s really an awkward situation to know but he could have shown a better version of him by not deleting the tweet.

Hence the original tweet can not be reached as it has been deleted by the author, the following screenshot taken and shared by Twitterati shows the reason why it was good for him to delete.

“آپ کے لئے اپنی آمدن میں گزارہ کے لحاظ سے زندگی کس سال میں بہتر تھی؟”

Ahsan Iqbal asks, in roman, “Aap key liye apni aamdan mein guzaray key lehaz se zindagi kis saal mein behter thi?” In English, “In which year was your life better in terms of living for your income?”

The poll had two options to choose from, 2018 or 2021. With no surprise for a Twitter handle with 2.2 million followers attracted a nice response with over 26,700 votes in a day with around 3 and a half hours left for voting before the last time the snapshot of the tweet was taken before the tweet disappeared. It’s obvious that a minor difference in the result didn’t satisfy the PMLN leader, leading him to delete the tweet. The result was 51% in favor of 2018 (the PMLN’s tenure) and 49% in favor of 2021 (the current government.)

A Twitter user mentioned that the respective tweet was also seen with the comments option disabled. The user was concerned about the deletion of the tweet while Ahsan Iqbal had already disabled the comments. There were indeed unwanted comments that could have made the author disable the comments as seen in a Google cached web page of the tweet.
