Pakistan Imports Ban

Pakistan’s government has banned the import of non-essential or luxury goods/items in the country. The reason is said to be the continuously dropping foreign exchange reserves and rising import bills.

To stabilise the rise of import bills and the depleting foreign exchange reserves, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif decided to ban the import of several luxury items, including cars, mobile phones, tyres, chocolates, cheese, and cosmetics.

While announcing the development, Marriyum Aurangzeb – Minister for Information and Broadcasting, stated that the government will convince the auto companies to slow down the imports of CKD kits (Completely Knocked Down) and SKD kits (Semi Knocked Down). The government may also consider a complete ban on the import of parts for CKD and SKD cars if the automakers do not cooperate.

There will be a complete ban on CBU units imports. While this is a big list of goods and items being banned from import, automobiles and mobile phones are among them. It will also gonna hurt chocolate lovers.
