Government has made Toshakhana record public from 2002 to 2023

The Cabinet Division website has uploaded a 466-page record of Toshakhana that details foreign gifts received over the last 21 years. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif ordered the record’s release. The Toshakhana record includes former presidents, prime ministers, ministers, and government officials who received foreign gifts. Notable recipients include incumbent Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, President Dr Arif Alvi, former President Pervez Musharraf, former Prime Ministers Shaukat Aziz, Yousuf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Nawaz Sharif, and Imran Khan.

The Toshakhana record shows that 59 gifts were received by the present government in 2023, 224 gifts in 2022, 116 gifts in 2021, 175 gifts in 2018, 91 gifts in 2014, and 177 gifts in 2015 by government officials. The document also revealed that former Prime Minister Imran Khan received gifts that included a diamond gold watch worth Rs 8.5 crore, a pair of cufflinks worth Rs 5.67 million, a pen worth Rs 1.5 million, a ring worth Rs 8.75 million, and a box of Oud wood and two perfumes worth Rs 0.5 million.

The document further revealed that Imran Khan kept a valuable watch worth Rs 1.5 million for which he paid Rs 2,94,000. He paid a total of Rs 2,00,17,700 for all the four items. In addition, he received another watch worth Rs 3.8 million by paying Rs 7,05,400.

In 2008, the document also shows that former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif purchased a Mercedes Banner car from Toshakhana for Rs 4.255 million of which he paid Rs 6,36,000.

Shehbaz Sharif received numerous gifts, including a cow model, a bowl, dagger, chocolates, honey, herbal tea, jam, and a jar, which he kept for free. He also bought a decoration piece for Rs 5000. Shehbaz Sharif received a ceramic bowl worth Rs 20,000 and a painting worth Rs 12,000 for free. On July 15, 2009, he deposited all gifts in Toshakhana.

The records show that General Pervez Musharraf (retd) received gifts worth more than Rs 65 lakh in 2004. He also received numerous valuable watches and jewellery boxes that he kept after paying money according to the law. Former Prime Minister Shaukat Aziz received a watch worth Rs 850,000, which was auctioned for Rs 355,000 rupees.

Furthermore, Amir Muqam, a PML-N leader, received a watch in 2005, valued at Rs 0.55 million. Former Prime Minister Mir Zafarullah Khan Jamali installed the Kaaba model in the Prime Minister’s House, and a jewellery box given to General Pervez Musharraf’s wife in 2003 was valued at Rs 2,634,387.

In 2018, former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi received a Rolex watch worth Rs 25 million, while his son Abdullah Abbasi received a watch worth Rs 55 lakh. Another son, Nader Abbasi, received a watch worth Rs 1 crore and 70 lakh as a gift, which he kept with himself after depositing Rs 33 lakh 95 thousand rupees.

Additionally, in 2018, Prime Minister’s Secretary Fawad Hasan Fawad received a watch worth Rs 19 lakh, and Prime Minister’s Military Secretary Brigadier Waseem received a watch worth two million rupees. In September 2018, former Prime Minister
